Mission Statement
The Overall aim of The Hearing Voices Network of Denver is to promote a network of support for people who hear voices and to create acceptance that hearing voices is a valid experience for which there can be many explanations. The project facilitates groups which meet throughout the Denver Metro Area and focuses on a behavioral approach to the management of voice hearing. By doing this, we aim to enable voice hearers to recognize their place in society through the support and coping skills provided by peers and mental health professionals.

Our Goals

  • To gather information about voices in order to help understand more about what the experience means.
  • To develop coping strategies.
  • To raise awareness of the voice hearing experience through society.
  • To bring voice hearers together in a confidential setting.
  • To offer support to voice hearers and their loved ones.
  • Raising awareness in society, amongst professionals and voice hearers, what it means to hear voices and the effect the experience has on the voice hearer.
  • To bring voice hearers together to share experiences and ways of coping with their voices in a confidential environment.
  • To give people a safe and confidential environment to explore their own experiences, and to learn and develop personal and positive coping strategies.
  • Building a therapeutic community, where people can feel valued and accepted.

Our Values
The network focuses on facilitating relevant assistance and solutions that improve the life of voice hearers in the knowledge that these methods have been co-developed by voice hearers and professionals. It is most important to us that the network embodies the guiding principles and is structured in such a way that it safeguards and continues to develop amongst founding and future members.
